Mini implants, also called mini screws or temporary anchorage devices ( TAD) are very small screw-like gadgets used more widely in orthodontic treatments.
Anchorage is a stable base on which an orthodontic force can be applied to move teeth.
An Orthodontic Mini-screw is a small titanium screw/pin that is inserted into either jaw to help the orthodontist move the correct teeth and stop the wrong teeth from moving in the wrong direction.
The mini -screw is usually in place for several months whilst the teeth are being moved into better position.
Once tooth movement is complete, the screws are taken out.
The use of these implants
allows for precise tooth movement checks and provides better treatment results.
